It all started with a magazine ad

I picked up the January/February issue of Suwanee Magazine a few weeks ago and  while reading through it I stumbled on this ad.  Well let me tell you, this baby had my name written all over it!  This fitness challenge would be a great thing for me to enter.  It would finally get me off my big butt and get moving.  I am still having a difficult time losing the remaining weight I had gained when I was pregnant with mini me (and yes, I do know that she is 3 and yes, I am still calling it baby weight).  Now that I think about it, I'm sure I'm still carrying weight from my pregnancies with #1 and #2 (YES I'm still carrying baby weight from 14 years ago...now please get off me).  Now I'm sure you're wondering why haven't I just gotten off my wide butt and done something about the excess weight?  Well the truth is that I have...I know what to do...the problem is that I just haven't been able to stick with it.  Yes, I have the gym membership and I have also joined Weight Watchers online but when you (1) don't go to the gym and (2) don't follow the diet...well you don't lose weight.  The problem is, only being accountable to myself (which should be reason enough, right?) just isn't cutting it.  I will except any and every excuse I make...yes, not only do I make the Kool-Aid, but I also drink it too!   Sooooo being in this contest/challenge would be the PERFECT thing for me.  I would be putting myself out there for all to see and watch and well if that isn't motivating enough then I don't know what is.

So today while the boys were out and mini me was asleep, I grabbed my video camera and tripod and made this little video.

Now all I have to do is wait to see if I am selected.

Year of the cupcake | #1 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Now that I have decided to embark on making one cupcake per week for the next 52 weeks, the next thing on the list was to determine what cupcake to make.  Since I get the original idea from the blog learn with jenny I decided to head back over to her blog and see what delicious bites she had made.  The first one on her list...Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (talk about heaven).

Just looking at the picture made my mouth water so I knew this was the perfect cupcake to start the year off right. The recipe came from another great blog Annie's Bites and let me tell you these are deeeee-licious!

The kids and I LOVED them!  They are super sweet and taste super yummy with a nice tall glass of milk.
Great way to start off the year!  Looking forward to what I will make for week #2.

Year of the cupcake | 52 weeks 52 cupcakes

My word for 2012 is Adventure and one of the ways that I will be living this word is by stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something that I have always said I wanted to do but never actually gathered up the courage to actually do it - baking would fall in this category.

I am a HUGE fan of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network and have always thought it would be cool if I could be a contestant on the show.  The problem is I'm not a baker at all.  Outside of making box cakes, brownies and cookies that is the extent of my baking abilities.  A few weeks ago I stumbled on the blog learn with jenny and immediately fell in love with her idea of making 52 cupcakes in 52 weeks.  So following in the footsteps of Jenny Meyerson, the mastermind behind learn with jenny I have declared that 2012 will be the year of the cupcake!

So for the next 52 weeks I will share the good, the bad and the delicious as we bake our way through 2012 one cupcake at a time!

So here's to...

Thought for the day

This morning while flipping through the January issue of O, The Oprah Magazine I came across an ad for Green Mountain Coffee that spoke volumes to me...

Talk about powerful.  I am the author of my Life story, which simply means that I have the power to choose how it will read?  Will it be filled with adventure? Romance? Lasting relationships with family and friends?  The beauty of it all is that it can contain all of that plus more because I am in the driving seat.

So my friends, I leave you with this to think about today...

How will  Your story go?

Here's to a new year

One of my new favorite blogs is Thirty Handmade Days and they have this adorable and I might add FREE New Year’s printable that you can use to list some of the things that you would like to accomplish in 2012.  Now I will be the first to admit that I am NOT good at following through when it comes to resolutions.  In the past I will make them but then a moth later you’ll find me falling off the resolution ladder and feeling really bad about it.  (can you feel my pain?)  But when I saw this post, I knew I just had to print it and fill it in.

What I like most about this sheet is that she incorporates One Little Word (more on that later) and it focuses on four major areas, what you want/need/share/succeed.  It’s simple and forced me to think outside of the box when thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in 2012.

If you’d like to snag you on copy of this nifty New Year’s Goals printable, click here.

Here's to a GREAT 2012!
